This effort is going well. There are currently three translations and a drop-down language switcher in the header (un-released). I have been working to get Crowdin set up to make translation and tracking easier, the project for that is here.

This is finished from an implementation perspective. In recent releases users can choose their language from the drop-down in the header from a list and their initial language is fetched from their browser locale.
